The architecture that can be enjoyed at Groot Parys Lifestyle Estate is that of the Cape Karoo Vernacular. Paarl features a unique treasure chest of architecture that dates back to the 1600s, including the earliest Cape Dutch, through to ornamental Victorian and Art Décor. Groot Parys Lifestyle Estate’s architecture plays seamlessly into the Cape Dutch aesthetic with its gabled roofs and large windows.
The estate’s historical Manor House began as a typical Cape Dutch farmhouse but was rebuilt in 1905 and now reflects a typically Edwardian style. Most of the buildings on the farm are late Victorian, with one building that is north of the Manor House being a South African interpretation of typical late 19th century building styles – a truly unique feature of Groot Parys.
